Hi, I’m Dr. Jo! I’m a Chiropractic Physician based in Illinois, and I’m also an immigrant and a proud member of the LGBTQ community. My work keeps me in scrubs most of the day, so fashion has become a fun and meaningful way for me to express myself outside the clinic. What first drew me to partner with Dapper Boi was their hidden snap buttons on their button down shirts! I’ve always been drawn to a polished look—there’s just something about dressing sharp that feels empowering. A collared shirt, in particular, has a certain charm. It’s classic yet versatile, and instantly adds a level of sophistication that I love. To me, it’s not just about looking good; it’s about showing up as my best self. With a larger chest, finding button-up shirts that fit well has always been a challenge. I’d often have to rely on safety pins to keep the fabric from gapping, which left me feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable. Finding gender-neutral clothes that fit my body has always been a challenge. Clothing to my liking either sacrificed style or fit, making it hard to feel truly comfortable and confident. I recently attended a conservative wedding with my wife, a setting where I usually feel out of place. I wore Dapper Boi’s button-down shirt paired with a vest, slacks, and dress shoes—a look that feels true to me but often gets attention at traditional events. It’s not being a lesbian that makes me uneasy in these situations; it’s the expectation to dress a certain way. As we made our way around, meeting people my wife knew, I was ready for the usual glances. But to my surprise, they looked at my wife and said, ‘She’s beautiful!’ referring to me. The truth is, I’m still working to embrace my masculine style fully, after years of family and societal pressure to conform. But hearing those words—being called beautiful while dressed in a way that feels right for me—was like a small step forward. Moments like this bring me closer to feeling truly comfortable and confident in my own skin.

What are your favorite ways to promote Dapper Boi and help spread the word about the brand?
