From Struggling to Find Jeans to an 80% Dapper Boi Closet: Meet Kelsey KMac

For Kelsey “KMac,” finding Dapper Boi started with something simple: seeing models who actually looked like her.
Seven years later, her closet is about 80% Dapper Boi, her original pair of jeans is still going strong, and she’s even walked in a Dapper Boi fashion show.
We caught up with longtime Dapper Boi community member Kelsey to talk about finding clothes that finally fit, how her personal style has evolved, and the Dapper Boi pieces she keeps coming back to.
Tell us a little about yourself! Who is Kelsey KMac?
My name is Kelsey. I was raised in sunny San Diego and currently live there. In my free time, I love exploring the various craft breweries around the city.
Do you remember how you first discovered Dapper Boi? What made you decide to give us a try?
I remember Dapper Boi popping up somewhere on social media. I was immediately intrigued because the models matched my body type, which wasn't something I was used to seeing.
You’ve been part of the Dapper Boi community for a long time.
I had to look it up, but my first order was April 7, 2019!!!! That was seven years ago, which seems crazy, especially since my closet is currently 80% Dapper Boi. My first purchase was a preorder for the Slim Fit Jeans.
Before finding Dapper Boi, what was your experience like shopping for clothes that matched your personal style and fit the way you wanted?
I remember tiptoeing around the men’s section trying to find jeans that would fit my hips and thighs. They never fit great lol.
How would you describe your personal style today? Has it changed or evolved over the years?
My personal style has only elevated since I found Dapper Boi.
I used to wear a lot of aggressive-pattern button-ups and basketball shorts. Once I found Dapper Boi, I was able to upgrade my closet with amazing clothes that actually fit and work for any occasion.
What are your top three Dapper Boi pieces of all time, and how do you like to style them?
My grey jeans, my black V-neck, and my maroon suit. And yes, the suit counts as one piece!!
My jeans and V-neck are my go-to outfit any day of the week. If I need to, I can add my shacket or bomber jacket.
The maroon suit has been a hit anytime I’ve worn it. I paired it with a white button-up for a fun daytime wedding and with a black button-up for an evening Pride awards show.
Is there a Dapper Boi piece that instantly makes you feel like yourself when you put it on?
Any pair of Dapper Boi jeans.
When I put them on, they just make me feel good. I remember the rough times I had trying to find jeans that fit, and now I can go to my closet and not struggle to get dressed.
I am so happy that I found Dapper Boi.
Is there a particular Dapper Boi memory, outfit, event, or moment that stands out to you?
A standout moment that I still cannot believe I was a part of was the Dapper Boi fashion show at Snapdragon Stadium.
I cannot put into words how special that moment was. Being around amazing people, in such an awesome space, showing off these great clothes... it was the experience of a lifetime.
What does Dapper Boi’s mission, “Where We All Fit In,” mean to you personally?
To me, it means anyone can find clothes that fit them and make them feel great.
Clothes for every body type.
After being a customer for so many years, what do you think makes Dapper Boi different?
For me, the clothes' longevity makes Dapper Boi stand out.
I bought my first pair of jeans in 2019. I still have those jeans, and I still wear those jeans.
I keep buying Dapper Boi because the clothes fit my body shape and make me feel good about myself.
What would you tell someone who has struggled to find clothes that feel like them and is discovering Dapper Boi for the first time?
Give Dapper Boi a try. I promise you will not regret purchasing these clothes.
I keep saying it, but these are the best-fitting clothes in my closet. There is something for everyone!
And just for fun: If you could bring back one past Dapper Boi piece OR have us create something completely new, what would it be?
Also, I work in a warehouse, so having some Dapper Boi cargo work pants would be awesome!
Seven Years Later, Still Finding the Perfect Fit
Kelsey’s story is exactly why Dapper Boi exists.
Finding clothes shouldn’t mean tiptoeing through a section that wasn’t designed for your body or settling for jeans that “almost” fit. It should mean opening your closet and knowing you have clothes that fit your body, reflect your style, and make you feel good when you put them on.
